Green Fest to hold Nature Photo Contest
The Boonsboro Green Fest plans to conduct its annual Nature Photo Contest again this year in conjunction with the popular spring festival.
The Green Fest is seeking photographs that highlight the beauty of the Washington County’s natural environment, such as landscapes, plant life and animal life.
The top three winning submissions will be displayed at the 10th annualBoonsboro Green Fest on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Boonsboro’s Shafer Park.
Photos will be judged on subject matter, focus, lighting, composition, creativity and photographic impact.
Photos must be digital and be taken within Washington County, Maryland, by amateur photographers who earn less than half of their income from photography. No photo may contain images of recognizable people. Go the photo contest rules for more information.
Entries must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by the May 5 and must be accompanied by the photo release and entry form.
The top three professionally framed photos will be displayed throughout the day at the Green Fest and then be presented to the winning photographers. The Sponsoring Partner of the contest is Howard’s Art & Frames of Hagerstown, who will be donating the framing and materials again this year.
Last year’s three top winners were: first place, John Krowka’s close-up photo of a large white owl; second place, Terri Packard’s farm scene framed by a flowing tree; and third place, Alexis Miller’s towering sunflower.
Serving as volunteer contest coordinator again this year is Tom Ruhf, a Rohrersville resident and an excellent amateur photographer himself.
The Green Fest is produced by the all-volunteer Boonsboro Green Fest Committee. The festival is an official event of the Town of Boonsboro.
